"A Sparkling, Sustainable Diwali"

The much-anticipated festival of Diwali arrived, and the students of UKG A and UKG C added a special sparkle to the celebration with their eco-friendly Diwali assembly. Focusing on cherishing nature and embracing sustainability, the children captivated the audience with an enchanting performance that took everyone back to the Ramayana era, skillfully bringing beloved characters to life on stage.

Dressed in colourful costumes, the young actors portrayed Lord Ram, Sita Mata, Hanuman, and even the demon king Ravan, capturing each character with expressive dialogue and engaging storytelling. The play began with a joyful dance celebrating the birth of Lord Ram, followed by a portrayal of the challenges he faced in rescuing Sita Mata and returning to Ayodhya. As the climactic scene unfolded, the hall echoed with chants of "Jai Shree Ram" when the demon king was vanquished, filling the air with spirituality and celebrating the timeless triumph of good over evil.

The assembly concluded with a powerful message on celebrating Diwali in an eco-friendly way. The children emphasized using clay diyas instead of plastic lights, creating rangolis with natural colours, and choosing reusable decorations to reduce waste. They encouraged everyone to adopt sustainable practices and honour the true spirit of Diwali without harming the environment. To reinforce this message, they presented handmade clay souvenirs to the Headmistress and the coordinator, symbolizing the beauty of natural materials. In her closing remarks, the Headmistress shared valuable insights on mindful Diwali practices, inspiring everyone to contribute to a cleaner, brighter celebration. The event concluded with a joyful dance, creating a memorable end to this eco-friendly Diwali celebration.

"The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for what is right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character." -- Margaret Chase Smith

Our enthusiastic learners of Grade UKG B presented an inspiring assembly on the theme of Moral Values. The assembly began with an introduction to the concept of moral values, followed by a discussion that involved thought-provoking questions like, "Why are moral values important?" and "What would happen if there were no values?" These questions helped the children understand and emphasize the significance and power of values in our lives.

The highlight of the assembly was a thought-provoking skit performed by the students. Their portrayal of different characters to demonstrate the importance of values was commendable, effectively conveying the message that moral values—such as honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, and kindness—are the building blocks of strong character.

In addition, our mesmerizing singers and dancers captivated the audience with their superb performances.
The students' outstanding performances earned enthusiastic applause and appreciation from the Coordinator ma'am, teachers, and fellow students.

The firefighters also taught the children some valuable fire safety tips. The children participated enthusiastically and asked many thoughtful questions.
The visit to the fire station not only gave the students a greater appreciation for firefighters and their work but also reinforced essential safety lessons in a fun and memorable way.

The Grade 1 students returned to school full of excitement, eager to share their experiences with their families. It was a fantastic day of learning, exploration, and inspiration!

Gandhi Jayanti Celebration at St. Xavier's High School

"Be the change you wish to see in the world – start by keeping your surroundings clean."
In celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, St. Xavier's High School organized an engaging discussion with the children about the significance of the day, followed by a joyful singing of "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram." The students participated wholeheartedly in a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activity, where they cleaned their classrooms, cubby holes, and desks, embodying the value of cleanliness and responsibility. The nursery group enthusiastically joined in by dusting their classrooms and cleaning their "Garden of Learning." As they worked, they reflected on Mahatma Gandhi's belief that "cleanliness is next to godliness" and understood the importance of a clean environment in building a strong nation. It was heartwarming to see the children pledging to continue Gandhi’s vision of a cleaner, healthier India.

In September, the UKG class embraced the concept of Activity-Based Learning, engaging students in a variety of interactive activities across different subjects.
For English, children participated in a special book reading session in the library on Literacy Day and enjoyed see-and-spell games that made learning spellings both fun and engaging.
In Math, the kids learnt the concepts of ascending and descending order through creative activities like the paper glass and staircase game, while the add-on blocks game helped them grasp the fundamentals of addition playfully.
The theme for the month, Plants, was explored through hands-on activities. Students went on a nature walk to observe different types of plants, used play dough to create plant parts and engaged in leaf printing to discover the various patterns in leaves. A special craft activity allowed them to illustrate the life cycle of an apple plant, further solidifying their understanding of how plants grow.
Additionally, the importance of environmental awareness was highlighted through poster making on Ozone Day, where children learnt about the significance of protecting the ozone layer.
This approach to learning has helped the children not only understand concepts better but also made the process of learning enjoyable and memorable.
