*Xaverians Lead the Way Towards a Greener Future on International Plastic Bag Free Day: *
On the occasion of International Plastic Bag Free Day, St. Xavier’s High School, Sector 81 reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by organizing a series of engaging and age-appropriate activities across different grade levels. The day aimed to educate young minds about the harmful impact of plastic on the environment and to inspire them to embrace eco-friendly habits.
The celebration began in the Kindergarten and UKG classes, where children watched an engaging and informative video highlighting the dangers of single-use plastic bags. This was followed by an interactive discussion led by the teachers, during which the little ones shared their understanding of the issue. Their responses reflected surprising awareness and a willingness to bring small changes in their daily routines.
Moving on to Grade 1, the students channeled their creativity by designing eco-friendly badges with impactful messages and illustrations. These badges were not only a fun craft activity but also a medium to raise awareness among their peers and family members about the importance of saying no to plastic and choosing sustainable alternatives.
In Grade 3, the focus was on action through craft and expression. The students created paper bags using old newspapers, beautifully decorated with meaningful slogans such as “Paper is Cool, Plastic is Cruel” and “Bring a Bag, Save the Planet.” The activity encouraged students to think creatively while reinforcing the importance of recycling and responsible consumption.
Such initiatives are a part of the school’s broader mission to instill eco-conscious values in its students and empower them to become responsible global citizens.
