A Dual Celebration at St. Xavier’s High School: Diwali and Children’s Day

Festivity is an opportunity to celebrate the grandeur of life and enjoy each moment. 12th November was a day filled with fun and merriment for Xavierians. They were drenched in hues of happiness and excitement to celebrate Diwali and Children’s Day.

‘There is no garden as beautiful as childhood’. Children’s Day- A day to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and mark childhood is celebrated on 14th November each year. This special celebration of Xavierians commenced with the assembly conducted by teachers virtually. It proceeded further with various performances, fun filled games and gifting of e-cards to pamper students, exhibit love and affection to them. They were so elated by these warm gestures and felt like superstars. The happiness on students’ faces was evident to know how special they are for their teachers.

Children’s Day celebration was twinned with joy of Diwali’s festivity. Diwali, the festival of lights symbolises the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance. To mark this festival of great rejoice, students were engaged in gamut of art and craft activities like Toran Making, Diya Decoration, Artsy Rangolis etc. They were Live on Facebook to promote the message of maintaining social distancing and hygiene protocols to defeat the threatening Covid-19 virus and save humanity. They also laid emphasis on how to overcome pandemic fatigue and celebrate Diwali digitally this year. It is possible to live life of dharma and virtue like our beloved Lord Ram by following strong will and determination.

Our school Headmistress, Ms Sarika R Chopra lauded the students for all their efforts and motivated them to stay Safe and Healthy at home during this festive season. Celebrate Diwali in its true sense by cleaning and decorating homes, making rangolis, donating clothes, providing help to poor and needy, bringing back smile in someone’s life. Contribute in the best possible ways to make this world a better place to live in.

Wishing Happy and Safe Diwali to all!!
