STUDENT
CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME WITH RUSSIA
Don’t
judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.
Addition of global dimension in the school
curriculum and broadening of horizons of the school students were all well accomplished
through the exciting and insightful week with the Russian Delegation. The week came
to a close with an enjoyable, rewarding and a fruitful day at St. Xavier’s High
School, Sector 81, Gurugram.
The guests were welcomed in a traditional
Rajasthani way; with two girls dancing gracefully to the beats of Rajasthani
folk dance and depicting horse galloping; soaking everyone in the beauty of
Indian culture. With tilak and garlands at the school gate the Delegation
stepped in a traditional way.
With the perfect march past of the Student
Council they all gathered for a special assembly. The guests were warmly welcomed with a small
token of love and pinning of badges. Auspicious lamp lighting ceremony and
chanting of shlokas transcended all to an ethereal world. Blessings of Goddess
Saraswati were seeked by a soulful Saraswati Vandana through a dance. This was
followed by melodious singing of a Russian song by the choir which was highly
applauded. The vibrant and refined asanas of Surya Namaskar brought a stream of
freshness and calmed everyone. The thoughts and experiences shared confidently
and eloquently by the school Head Girl, Siya Chopra were quite relatable. The
elegant and cute Barbie dolls of Kindergarten rocked the stage with their
zestful and cuteness overloaded performance, applauded loudly by the audience. The
ultimate purpose, exposure and exchange of culture was wholly achieved by the
confident ramp walk of Grade II students. They depicted the attire of different
states of India and captivated the audience rightly with their ramp walk. As the
day was all about friendship and memories; a dance by the Xavier’s Dance Team on
a musical fusion of Russia and India enthralled the audience. Respected
Headmistress ma’am apprised the audience with her knowledgeable words and
thoughts. The assembly came to a close with everybody standing in pride for the
National Anthems of India and Russia.
Children demonstrated exemplary spirit and made
their Russian friends accustomed to the Indian traditions within no time. The
day was a milestone in the journey of knowing each other’s country and people.
