“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” This is not just a quote but a reality. Though we have virtual boundaries in learning today, we at St. Xavier’s still take out the best ways to make the kids understand even the trickiest concepts by involving them and incorporating our activity-based methodology. Solar system was introduced to the Kindergarteners and to give them a better understanding of the planets and how they orbit around the sun, a play dough activity was done. Using simple things like black A4 sheet, earbuds and colourful playdough, kids made the planets and also wrote their names. This activity helped them not only to identify the closest, farthest, and biggest planets but also their placements in the solar system.

Basant Panchami Celebration @ St. Xavier’s High School, Sector 81

The festival of Basant Panchami marks the end of winter and the onset of spring is celebrated on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Hindu month of Magha. The day is considered to be the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, as she is said to have appeared on earth to eradicate the sadness of all living beings, through the gift of speech. Hence, Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, arts, science and technology is worshipped on this day.

This auspicious day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm at St. Xavier’s High School. It was a true delight to see our Xaverians decked up in yellow attires and seeking blessings of Goddess Saraswati to bestow the gift of knowledge and wisdom on all of us. They were  enlightened about the significance of Basant Panchami, its association with the yellow colour, the  blooming of mustard flowers and the arrival of spring were also elaborated through various activities. They enjoyed the day, enlightened by the blessings of Maa Saraswati.

May Goddess Saraswati bring us wisdom and success! Happy Basant Panchami to all!!
