VIRTUAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
(6th October-15th October)
Experiencing Different Cultural Habits
‘We must try to expand the boundaries of human wisdom, empathy and perception, and there is no way of doing that except through education.’
St. Xavier’s High School hosted Student Exchange Programme virtually from 6th October to 15th to empower the students and widen their horizon. It was an enriching experience for Xavierians to communicate and collaborate with their South Korean friends and develop new skills.
New challenges require new and innovative solutions. The Covid 19 pandemic has also an enormous impact on the Student Exchange Programme this year. Xavierians have adapted to the changes tremendously and successfully collaborated with their Korean friends virtually. The entire week schedule was well formulated with activities related to the project work and facilitated an experiential learning for students.
Day1 and 2: Our Korean friends received a warm welcome from Xavier’s family. They introduced themselves and their families. They also shared their unique experiences and perspectives.
Day3: It was the day dedicated to encourage the aesthetic development of students. They were engaged in plethora of creative activities like singing, dancing, art and craft to explore and work in diverse cultural environments.
Day4: The fourth day offered opportunities to students to interact and experience diversity in cultures. They had a stupendous discussion about customs, habits, festivals, cuisines and traditional dresses of both the countries leading to an enhanced understanding of culture and imbibing comradeship.
Day5: Learning new language is always fun and boost our confidence. Students of both the schools were excited to learn a new language. Exchange of pleasantries like ‘Namaste’ and ‘Yeoboseyo’, other phrases and sentences was a joyful learning experience for them.
Day6,7: The enthusiasm and excitement of students to visit famous places and monuments via Virtual Tour was immeasurable. Students gained knowledge about diverse culture, grand history and rich heritage of both the countries.
The successful culmination of our Korean Student Exchange Programme demonstrate that nothing can inhibit the learning of proud Xavierians. This life changing experience has instilled the sense of achievement, developed strong leadership skills and boosted the confidence of our students. Congratulations on achieving another milestone!!
