A Two Day Trip to Agra

At Xavier’s we believe, excursions and educational trips are a perfect way to learn, experience new things and broaden our horizons. In order to inculcate a sense of leadership, adventure and self-reliance, the school organized a trip to the historical city, Agra, thirty three students from grades IV to VIII along with our Headmistress Ms. Sarika R Chopra and three teachers set off on a two day trip to Agra on 27^th April, 2019.

The entire journey bustled with the vivacious smiles, zestful chatters and zealous actions of the students. The bus reached Agra around 10 a.m. and went to visit the Agra fort. The visit to the fort acquainted the students with historical background of the Mughals and the rich heritage of our country. After the visit students checked in to the Jaypee Palace Hotel where a lavish lunch awaited them. Students were enthralled with the majestic ambience and grandeur of the place.

The next visit was to the magnificent monument Taj Mahal, the finest example of Mughal architecture that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles. Students exhibited a great deal of inquisitiveness and were eager listeners to the guide. As they strolled around the ivory mausoleum, they learnt the fascinating facts about its construction and symmetry. Students were truly mesmerized by the beauty of this structure.

After the visit the students went back to the hotel where a surprise awaited them. The hotel organized a puppet show for the students who witnessed the diapering art form with a lot of interest and ardour. After the puppet show the students relished a scrumptious meal.

The next day commenced with another wholesome breakfast and some fun moments with the Headmistress Ma’am, followed by a visit to Fatehpur Sikri. The students gained hands on knowledge of the Mughal architecture and life of Mughal emperors. At the visit, our honourable Headmistress Ms. Sarika R Chopra briefed the students about the Mughal history. She announced an ‘Extempore Competition’ for the students to check their knowledge. The students amazed everyone with their oratory and memory skills. Winners were announced and were felicitated in the assembly in school.

INTER-CLASS COMIC CHARACTER COMPETITION: 26.04.2019

‘They are not just super heroes but a great help in learning’-Comic Characters(GradeI-III)

Enactment of a Comic Character helps a child to identify his own abilities. When a child wears his caped crusader’s outfit, he feels as if he has all the power and abilities of his chosen superhero. When a child pretends to be his favourite comic character, he imagines how others feel and he becomes aware of other people’s needs, which builds on his empathy skills.

Our young Comic Characters from grade 1-3, expanded their vocabulary and developed their language skills while enacting as their favourite ones. While pretending to be a brave Spiderman or Chulbul Pandey, children imagined what frightening experiences are like and how they can conquer them in a heroic manner .

The competition commenced with great fervour and high spirits. Grade –I finalists performed confidently in an impressive way with their appreciable costumes and props. Their marvellous enactment was a must watch performance and was applauded by the gathering.

Grade–II students extended the show with their performances which left the audience spell bound. Spiderman crawling on the floor, Dora with her magic bag, Chacha Chaudhary enthralled the spectators to a comic world with their presentation along with vibrant costumes and multiple props.

Our Young grade –III Xavierian’s presented themselves in quite interesting and creative way.

Young inspector chewing, power girl and many more such Comic Characters were portrayed in a breath taking manner which transformed the ambience and the aura to a merriment experience.

The competition was taken up by the students in a positive competitive spirit and profuse talent was eminent. The competition came to an end of indelible performances with a vote of thanks to all the participants for their inundated efforts.

INTER CLASS HISTORIC CHARACTER COMPETITION (2019-20)

REPORT

Students were empowered and felt liberated when history was brought to life in St. Xavier’s High School, Sector -81 on Friday, April 26, 2019. An Inter Class Historic Character Competition was conducted in the school premises and the students played famous people in history, who have played a significant role in shaping human progress.

Historic Character Enactment is as an educational or entertainment activity in which students recreate aspects of history. The enthralled students put their best foot forward and displayed great confidence in their recitation skills. Voice modulation, delivery of content, confidence and expression were the parameters participants were judged upon and it was par excellence in the way participants enacted their roles. The participants enacted as Mahatma Gandhi, Rani Lakshmi Bai. Maharana Pratap, Chhattarpati Shivaji etc. with great confidence and zeal. They exhibited their talent with confidence and avidity. It seemed as if they possessed a second soul.

The importance of drama and theatre in the sphere of education cannot be ignored. It encourages participation, boosts confidence of students and trigger's "out of the box" thinking. Keeping all this in mind "Historic Character" Competition was organised for classes lV to VIII. India’s magnificent past doesn’t need any introduction. From royalty to revolutionary, India has an exemplary past to showcase and feel proud of. Through this competition the students got a chance to be a part of India’s glorious past.
It was a very enriching experience for the participants and audience and the competition truly was an illumination for the soul for all.

EARTH WEEK CELEBRATION

“Love the Earth as you would love yourself.”

With the above motto in mind, St. Xavier’s High School, Sector-81, celebrated Earth Day with great zeal and enthusiasm on 22^nd April, 2019.

Everything in the world around us is built upon the Earth, grows on the Earth or depends on the environment of the Earth in some way or the other. As we know this is the only planet where survival is possible so it becomes our duty to save our Mother Earth. This was the message conveyed by the Xavierians through their special assembly.

The thought provoking skit sensitized the children about the conservation of natural resources and motivated them to do their bit towards making their planet more beautiful. The skit was followed by a soulful dance performance dedicated to our Blue Planet. The students expressed their notions about Mother Earth and how to save it, in their chance for elocution. A strong emphasis was laid on ‘no usage of plastic bags’ and ‘switching off the lights’, when not in use. The assembly ended with the students taking pledge to follow environment friendly ways and celebrate each day as Earth Day. 

The Pre Primary tiny tots were not behind in infusing the audience with the need to save our environment.

The confident speeches by the young Xavierians left the viewers awe struck. The students mesmerized everyone with their mellifluous song followed by an energetic and vivacious dance performance.

The aura of the school echoed with the devotion of the students towards their Mother Earth by an array of activities like slogan writing, poem recitation, watering plants, feeding water to birds and making of Earth Day crafts.

Feeding Birds & Bird Foods

Feeding and watching birds was stimulated in Xavierians of grade -I. Monitoring birds at feeders was enjoyed by our young students with fervour. They loved to observe birds keenly with great interest, named them with their endearing imagination and built a special bond while caring for them.

Poetry recitation and memorizing it, are the fun activities that engage kids in healthy learning. Grade II and III learners recited and learnt poems on Earth Day. Poems not only sensitized but also inspired our pupils to consider the health of the planet with deep concern. The poems with their intense impact touched the student's heart and brought a positive change in the way they treat the world around them.

Slogans are globally used to help celebrate in an effective and a memorable way. Students of grades IV and V celebrated Earth Week by making attractive posters in order to spread awareness regarding environmental protection. Using such slogans they were encouraged to take care of the planet and maintain nature’s balance by bringing behavioural changes.

School Composting - Let’s Get Growing!

Organic wastes such as food scraps, food soiled paper products, leaves and grass clippings comprise over 60% of our waste stream and are completely recyclable. That’s where composting steps in and was practiced by grade VII. They themselves composed biodegradable things in different pits is a natural way to turn organic material into a soil amendment. They pledged to compost the biodegradable material every time they come across in order to save Earth.

The events of the week rekindled emotive concerns and instigated the youngsters to save, love and respect Mother Nature with all their heart and soul. The students were sensitized to become crusaders for environment conservation.
